I'm stoked to announce that I've partnered with Ju I'm stoked to announce that I've partnered with Just Live! Just Live is a premium CBD company founded by athletes looking for a better product. As many of you know I've been dealing with the effects of Lyme disease for 15 years now, and one of the main symptoms that I deal with regularly is inflammation. Outside of causing inflammation in my head Lyme seems to effect my tendons the most, and as a creative with an active lifestyle both of those can be real issues for me. CBD is something that has really helped me with my inflammation issues, and Just Live makes what I feel are awesome CBD products. If you want to try it out yourself I'm stoked to be able to offer you a 15% discount. Use the code ian15 at the link in my bio to order.

If you have any questions feel free to ask me!

Photo notes if you're interested - Shot on my Sony A9 at 1/250 f/8 ISO 80 using 3 lights, some black river rocks, mint leaves, blue gel, and a sheet of black mirror.
A relatively quick shot I took in the @deitycompon A relatively quick shot I took in the @deitycomponents studio the other day. While I was getting ready to shoot this image I thought it might be interesting to see a little Behind the Scenes of creating the steam, so I made a video of the whole process including editing the two images together. You can find it at the link in my bio.

The Doubleshot mug shot was fairly basic, I used two gridded strip lights, one on each side, and a light above and slightly to the front with a 10 degree grid. For the steam I kept the same lighting but increased the EV (Exposure Value) by 5 2/3 stops, turning the ISO up to 5000. Changing the Shutter Speed doesn't really change the exposure for an image that is only flash lit, and I could only open the Aperture 3 stops to 2.8.

Then I combined the two images in Photoshop using a layer mask and lighten blending mode on the steam layer.

Any questions? Let me know in the comments.

Been having a lot of fun playing with color lately Been having a lot of fun playing with color lately. Color studies and variations. The Copperhead Stem comes in a bunch of different colors, so... How often do you use a color wheel? Understanding color theory and relationships is an important part of creating images.

Been a long time since I shot snowboard photos, or Been a long time since I shot snowboard photos, or any snow photos for that matter. More than 20 years... Which is weird because before I started shooting bike snow used to be my life. Time to get back into it!

Good times up at @bogusbasin today! A little more snow would be nice, but more than enough to have fun. @cheddarchild dropping.
