CXLA – Cyclocross in the Dust

At the end of last year I flew to LA to shoot the Long Beach round of the CXLA cyclocross series for Niner and the SDG Factory Team, and of course I couldn’t not shoot the CLIF Bar guys while I was there. It was a fun time catching up with my friends Tyler from SDG Components and Karl from Pinkbike, as well as making some great new friends like Amanda from the SDG team.

Cyclocross is normally a cold, wet, muddy affair, but Long Beach was hot, and the course was dry and dusty. So while it didn’t fit the traditional look of cross, it made for some awesome backlit dust photos in the evenings when the men raced. Unfortunately the women didn’t get the same evening light through the dust, but it was still a very interesting race to shoot.
